Retaining soul in raw material selection
I strive to retain and honor the soul of what was once a tree. I work primarily with historically rooted materials in order to create timeless handcrafted home or office furniture. Whether the furniture item is quarter sawn oak, walnut, or maple it all starts the same: selecting, defecting, and designating pieces of each rough board into their new position and future home. I hand choose the desired boards needed to build the furniture item. Then each board is further defected and designated a position utilizing its inherent quality and beauty. In doing this I create an outline of the furniture item to be built. This is the first step in producing furniture of lasting quality and timeless beauty worthy of paying tribute to the former tree and celebrating its new habitat-your home or office!
