Honoring Influence and Design
My fine furniture woodworking experience lies in 6.5 years building, sanding and finishing arts and crafts reproductions and custom designs by master finisher Carrie Jazwiecki of Peerless Handcraft (formerly of Head Heart and Hand). In honoring this experience and our continued working relationship, I have compiled some of my favorite items in Portfolio. I continue collaboration with her in building her designs and historical reproductions and more of her collection can be found at peerlesshandcraft.com. Furthermore, my personal interest is melding these arts and crafts techniques and designs with a modern aesthetic to create contemporary yet historically ingrained forms. I have gathered influence from the arts and craft period notabley but not limited to Charles Limbert, Roycroft, Stickley (all of them); and modern sway from designers once again not limited to Charlotte Perriand, George Nakashima, Greta Grossman, and Jens Risom. In order to nurture my desire and ambition to keep building and creating furniture, I try to block out 6 hours per week for these projects (depending on the build schedule!). I take this opportunity to enjoy influence and design by building what inspires and invokes me whether that be a new concept or reproduction. These items will first be featured in Up For Grabs. I also encourage custom sizing and design in order to fit a piece of furniture in a desired location in your home or office or to better suit your personal needs. Thank you for your support of small business and skilled labor and cheers to all the inspirational fine furniture makers and designers past, present, and future.
